New Delhi: Fabio Cannavaro's first match after winning FIFA World Player of the Year award was not a memorable one for the defender.
Real Madrid took on lowly Recreativo Huelva but despite having the best defender in the world ended on the losing side.
Recreativo opened the scoring 10 minutes before half-time with Florent Sinama-Pongolle going past Cannavaro and then Nigerian striker Ikechukwu Uche did the unthinkable for the second time in the match.
Uche dribbled past the Italian before firing in the second goal. Emilio Viqueira completed the rout with a stunning free kick in the final minute to give a 3-0 win to Recreativo Huelva.
After the defeat Real have slipped five points behind La Liga leaders Sevilla who beat Deportivo La Corunia 4-0.
In Italy Inter Milan looking for their 10th consecutive victory of the season faced Lazio.
The first half was hard fought but the Serie A leaders took the lead in the 40th minute with a Cambiasso strike.
Inter goalkeeper Cesar kept them ahead with two excellent saves and five minutes from the final whistle Marco Materazzi headed in a Luis Figo corner to seal the win for Inter.
In Germany Bayern munich took on Aachen. Aachen fired the opening salvo in the 11th minute when Reghecampf drilled in a free-kick.
With six minutes remaining in the half another goal by Reghecampf saw Munich going down 0-2.
Bayern came back in the match with a goal from Lukas Podolski but by then they were 1-3 down.
In the 68th minute Mark van Bommel made it 2-3 for Bayern but Jan Schlaudraff sealed the win for Aachen in the final minute and with it a place in the quarter-finals.
