Car robbery attempt foiled

SALEPUR: A bid to snatch a car at gun-point was foiled due to timely interference of two locals on Thursday. Sources said Mohammad Yumesh Sheik of Andhra Pradesh was on his way to West Bengal in his four-wheeler when three motorcycle-borne miscreants, who were following him, intercepted his car near Gobindpur on NH-5. Soon after Sheik stopped his car, miscreants took out a revolver and fired two rounds at him, injuring him badly. While the trio was trying to flee with the car, two locals reached the spot forcing the miscreants to flee on their bikes.  Sheik was later admitted to SCB Medical, Cuttack. A case has been registered with Tangi police.
