Team investigating rape case interrogates Rajkumars kin

The CB-CID team, which was handed over the investigation into the alleged rape and murder of a minor girl against former DMK MLA M Rajkumar, began inquiries on Sunday.

The team interrogated the relatives of Rajkumar and the workers in his house.

The CB-CID team would file a petition in the Perambalur district court seeking custody of Rajkumar and his three aides arrested on charges of rape and murder of Sathya.

The Director General of Police (DGP) had ordered the transfer of the case to the CB-CID here on July 16 and a copy of the order was received by the Perambalur police on July 20.

The transfer of the investigation followed a demand by the victim Sathya’s relatives. The CB-CID police team arrived at Perambalur on Friday and received the case diary file from Perambalur town Inspector Sarfudeen. It may be recalled that C Satya of Idukki district was sexually harassed and allegedly poisoned at the house of Rajkumar.

Later, she died in a hospital. Based on a complaint by Satya’s father Chandran, police registered cases against six persons including Rajkumar, Jaishankar, Anbarasan, Mahendran and broker Paneer Selvam under IPC Sections 366 (A) (kidnapping), 376 (Rape) and 302 (Murder).  Later, Rajkumar, Jaishankar, Anbarasan and Mahendran were arrested and lodged in the Central Prison here.
