BALASORE:  It is celebration time for Balasore district. Thirteen of its students have figured in the top-20 list of Plus-II examination.While nine students have secured ranks in  Arts stream, two each in Science and Commerce streams clinched positions in the merit list. Among them, six were from Fakir Mohan Junior College.Pritinanda Panda of FM Junior College has secured the second position in Arts by scoring 515 marks. Likewise, Basanti Das of Dr J N College at Rasalpur got third position with 514 marks, Ramachandra Behera of FM Junior College was placed fourth with 508 marks and Sabina Mandal of F M Junior College bagged the sixth position with 497 marks.Sradhanjali Mohapatra of Berhampur College at Raj Berhampur got the seventh rank by scoring 495 marks, Nalinikanta Parhi of B Mahavidyalaya at Avana was placed at eighth position with 493 marks and Anuradha Pila of K C Pipli Mahavidyalaya at Jagai got the 13th rank with 488 marks.Subasini Das of Remuna Junior College got 14th rank with 487 marks and Gayatri Satapathy of FM Junior College was placed at the 16th rank with 484 marks.Similarly in Science stream, Sabyasachi Behera of F M Junior College clinched the 14th position by securing 531 marks, while Soubhagya Kumar Jena of Sastri Institute of Science and Technology at Bhoisahi captured 18th place in the list with 526 marks.In Commerce, Lipsha Das and Swayam Prakash Mohapatra of FM Junior College have been figured in the sixth and the 11th places with 539 and 532 marks respectively.Pritinanda, daughter of a primary school teacher Prafulla Panda and Padmini Dash, said she had done well in the exam but never expected the second position.“It comes as a surprise,” said Pritinanda who aims to become a lecturer in economics.Students from nondescript rural colleges from Avana, Jagai, Rasalpur and Raj Berhampur near Nilagiri have also made the locals proud. This is for the first time that 13 students from the district figure in the Top-20 list.
