HYDERABAD: Chief minister N Kiran Kumar reddy will launch the state-wide Education Fortnight at the government high school near Ameerpet here on monday. He will also launch Aksharaabhyasam (initiation of a child into education) and have an interactive session with school dropouts. He will also have an interaction with members of the school management committee. later, he will distribute school uniforms, text and work books, and aids to the disabled. The government is spending about Rs 2,000 crore on infrastructure and other facilities which include construction of model schools during the fortnight (june 13 to 25). Enrollment of children aged five years and above, rallies to motivate parents into enrolling their wards in schools, Aksharabhyasam, door-to-door campaigning, etc will be undertaken in the first week from 13 to 19. period between 20 and 25 will be children’s Entitlement week. Right To education (rte) day will be observed on june 20 with distribution of uniforms and textbooks. inauguration of 1,000 buildings of high schools, foundation-laying for 500 high schools and creating awareness in parents on nutrition and health education will be held during this period. According to an official press release here on Sunday, reddy said the programme’s focus should be on retention and enrollment of children in schools, improving literacy and providing quality education at all levels. called upon teachers, students, parents, public representatives and officials of the education and other departments concerned to fully involve themselves in the education Fortnight programmes to be held in the state.
