CMs escort jeep hits ambulance with patient

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: An ambulance, carrying a critical patient, had a minor collision with the escort jeep of Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on the bypass road near Technopark here on Saturday. Nobody was injured in the accident. The ambulance was on its way to a private hospital with Abdul Raheem, who had been referred from a hospital at Venjaramoodu to a private hospital in the city.The accident occurred around 4 p.m. when the escort jeep, on way to Kollam, hit the ambulance while trying to avert a collision with another Toyota car which had overtaken the jeep. The engine of the ambulance turned off after the collision and the patient had to wait till the 108 ambulance reached the spot. The patient was transferred to 108 ambulance and was taken to hospital. Abdul Raheem is now in ventilator at a city hospital.
