BANGALORE: “In the present scenario, politics is destructive. Politicians have invited more than 300 multinational companies (MNCs) to set up their shops. But they have failed to come to an agreement with these firms and give prominence to the sons of the soil,” alleged Jnanapith awardee Dr Chandrashekar Kambar. He was speaking at the 108th birth anniversary celebration of Kuvempu organised by Karnataka Vishwamanava Samste here on Thursday. Calling upon people who believe that English is essential to be successful in life, Dr Kambar said, “English is not important. People should come out of the illusion that English is the only language to become successful. ““Every Kannadiga should develop the power to be self-employed. Many Kannadigas believe that everything can be gained by English and nothing can be achieved without it. English is not an end in itself. This kind of attitude must change in the society,” he observed.Home Miniter R Ashok and Prof M R Doreswamy, founder of PES Education Institutions felicitated Kambar with Vishwa Manava Award on the occasion.
