Cong to Pak: Come clean or face dire consequences
India says that if Pak doesn't come clean, the results will be unpleasant.

New Delhi: The Congress party on Monday said that if Pakistan fails to come clean on terrorism, the consequences that might follow would not be pleasant.

"Our options are not foreclosed as revealed by the party president and External Affairs Minsiter Pranab Mukherjee. If the Pakistan establishment fails to come clean, the consequences will not be pleasant," Congress spokesperson, Abhishek Manu Singhvi told reporters.

Giving a warning to Pakistan, Singhvi said: "The sooner the message is understood, the better it is for Pakistan and the world at large."

Singhvi also blamed Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for weakening India's case with his "irresponsible statements" on the issue.

"When there is a clear evidence, we request nationalist friends like Narendra Modi not to muddy the waters, not to mischievously weaken our case and not to provide ammunition of frivolous and vexatious kind to Pakistan," he said.

Singhvi said that the irresponsible statements of Modi would only weaken India's united fight against terrorism.

Replying to a question whether Pakistan would be a poll plank in the elections, Singhvi said: "The issue touches every aspect of Indians and their lives. It is paramount not only for the government but also for the people."

He quoted from an article of Richard Watson in Granta magazine to prove his point that Pakistan was exporting terrorists.

"Granta is a highly regarded magazine. Some of the findings of Richard Watson are telling, revealing and scary. It also gives graphic detail of how the terror network in Pakistan is linked to al-Qaeda and the Taliban and the LTTE," he said, alleging this was done with the knowledge and complicity of the civil society.

Singhvi said the article is based on detailed investigations and shows the way Pakistan-known and Pakistan-supported recruits were exported to India.
