Congress performs yajna for Sonia

New Delhi: Congress workers organised a mahamrityunjaya yajna on Monday at the holy Sangam in Allahabad following the reported terrorist threat to the life of party President Sonia Gandhi.

Eleven havan kundas were installed to perform the yajna organised by the traders' cell of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC), which was marked by chanting of the mahamrityunjaya mantra 51,000 times.

Secretary General of the UPCC's traders cell Amar Vaishya said the auspicious occasion of Christmas had been chosen to conduct the yajna, as the Party was worried by the terrorist threat.

The Party would do everything to save Sonia as her leadership was a huge asset to the Congress, Vaishya said.
