Cops fail to avert child marriage

KURNOOL: A minor got married to a man treble her age at Orvakallu mandal in Kurnool district on Sunday.On information, police reached Buggarameswara Swamy temple, the venue of the marriage but by this time, the marriage was over. Cops took the newlywed into custody.The groom, Seelaiah (47), a native of Maldakallu in Veldurthi mandal, claimed that he married Dhanalakshmi (14), daughter of Buggaiah belonging to Chinnapendekal in Adoni mandal, with the consent of her parents. The teenage bride was handed over to the officials of women and child welfare department.Seelaiah divorced his first wife as she failed to bear children.
