New Delhi: The Juvenile Justice Board has reserved the order Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy's plea to consider the sixth accused in the Delhi gangrape case as an adult till Thursday. Swamy, in his plea had pointed to the discrepancies between the Juvenile Justice Act and the Indian Penal Code.
The Juvenile Act terms those above 18 as adults, while the Penal Code says its 12. In a separate plea, Swamy has also asked that he be allowed to intervene in the case.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Delhi High Court refused to entertain Swamy's pleas. HC told Swamy to wait for the Juvenile Justice Board order. If the Juvenile Justice Board dismisses the plea, then he will apply in sessions court. "I have argued before the Juvenile Justice Board, that the definition of juvenile cannot be rigid at 18," Swamy said.
