Deposit fine with banks, UP government's scheme to ease litigation
The UP government has launched 'Saral Petty Offence Fine Deposit Scheme' in collaboration with the SBI in Bulandshahr, said Additional District & Sessions judge Kulvinder Singh Jaggi.

Bulandshahr: In order to deliver speedy justice and make litigation public-friendly, Uttar Pradesh government has launched a scheme which requires accused to deposit the penalty fine in petty cases at State Bank of India instead of making trips to the court.

The UP government has launched 'Saral Petty Offence Fine Deposit Scheme' in collaboration with the SBI in Bulandshahr, said Additional District & Sessions judge Kulvinder Singh Jaggi.

Cases of traffic challan under the Motor Vehicles Act, challans under the Police Act, Public Gambling Act, Kshetra Panchayat and Zila Panchayat Adhiniyam shall be disposed under the new agreement, he said.

Cases under above heads constitute 60 per cent of the backlogs in courts of law in UP, the judge said.

Under the new arrangement the accused need to come to court and the fine be deposited with SBI 'Power Jyoti Account', added the judge.

Bulandshahr will be the fifth district of UP to have this kind of scheme. Initially the scheme was launched in four cities of Allahabad, Kanpur Nagar, Varanasi and Ballia, a government note said.
