SAMBALPUR: Aggrieved BJP workers along with members of Kuchinda Sachetan Yuva Manch and Kuchinda Bar Association took Sambalpur CDMO  Bhakta Prasad Guru hostage on Friday afternoon to protest shortage of doctors in Kuchinda Sub Division Hospital.Sources said Kuchinda Sub-division Hospital is being run by four doctors against the sanction strength of 14.  Though eight doctors served patients of about six periphery blocks earlier, four among them were transferred without any reliever which badly hit health services in the area.Though numerous agitations demanding filling up of the vacant posts were held earlier, no steps have been taken by the CDMO, the agitators alleged.  BJP workers on Friday launched a relay strike in front of Kuchinda Sub Collector office and Guru, who was on an official visit to the hospital, went to the agitation site at around 4.30 pm. The discussion between Guru and the agitators heated up.Later, members of Kuchinda Sachetan Yuva Manch and Kuchinda Bar Association joined them and took Guru as hostage.  Till last reports came in, Guru was still being held hostage with the district administration yet to intervene in the matter.
