Domestic LPG cylinder racket busted

CUTTACK: Continuing its crackdown on food adulteration and illegal sale of domestic LPG cylinders in the open market, the civil services wing of district administration on Tuesday busted a racket at CDA Sector-6. As many as 25 cylinders were seized from the house of one Pramila Das.Acting on a tip-off, the team of officials swooped on the house of Das and recovered the illegally-stored domestic LPG cylinders. Das was allegedly selling each cylinder in the open market at prices between Rs 720 and Rs 750.The sources said she had opened numerous dummy consumer accounts with different LGP dealers like HP and Indane. She used to get the cylinders at normal prices of around Rs 420 and was selling them at almost double the price and making hefty profit in the process.A case under the Essential Commodities Act has been registered against Das.
