Mumbai: Actress Priyanka Chopra, who has acted in the remake versions of 'Don' and 'Agneepath', says the remakes provide younger generation an opportunity to revisit the original cult films.

Priyanka was last seen in Farhan Akhtar's 'Don 2', a sequel to 'Don: The Chase Begins Again' (2006), which was a remake of the 1978 Hindi cult classic 'Don', starring Amitabh Bachchan.

The actress would be next seen in 'Agneepath', which is a remake of the 1990-film, starring Amitabh Bachchan as Vijay Dinanath Chauhan, played by Hrithik Roshan. Priyanka is playing the lead role opposite Hrithik.

"I had not seen 'Agneepath' until the time Karan Malhotra told me about this film. When you create a remake, it is a good thing in a way, as the younger generation might not have seen the cult classic films and experienced it," Priyanka told reporters here.

"Remaking cult classics...old films are a tribute to that cinema. These films (remakes) are inspired. So it is for today's generation to watch it and get familiar with those films. In case of 'Agneepath', Karan Malhotra (director) has done it in a brilliant way. So there are no comparisons

between these films as we are not trying to make it that way or reach...touch that level," she said.

In 'Agneepath', which is Karan Johar's forthcoming film as a producer, Priyanka essays the role of a Maharashtrian girl- Kaali. "For the second time, I was playing a Maharashtrian girl. So when I was talking to Karan Malhotra about this character, we were clear that it should be different from

Sweety in 'Kaminey'. In 'Agneepath', she is the strength of Vijay and she is the soul, happiness and naughtiness in the film," she said.
