THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Valiyathura police have arrested three persons for drinking alcohol in a public place. Titus, Anthony and Vijayan, all residents of Valiyathura, were arrested around 11.30 am on Thursday from near the Valiyathura Junction. Police charged them under Abkari Act 15(C) and later released them on station bail.Sand SeizedNemom police launched a raid and confiscated six loads of illegally mined sand which was stored in a public place. Six loads of sand costing more than ` 1.5 lakh were seized from the bank of the Parayilthodu, near Punnamoodu, around 11.30 am on Thursday. A report regarding this has been submitted to the RDO and the sand will be shifted to Nirmithi Kendra soon. Temple Theft: One HeldThampanoor police have arrested a North Indian suspected to be involved in numerous temple thefts in the city. Nolak Bachar, 42, of Chattisgarh, was arrested by Thampannor police the other day for his involvement in the robbery that occurred at Ishakkiyamman temple, near Thycaud. According to the police, Bachar, who has been accused in several theft cases in his native state, was carrying out temple thefts here in the disguise of a construction worker. During the daytime, he went for a construction job and carried out his operations at night. The accused has been remanded.
