Munger: A drunken man was lynched by locals after he shot dead a child in Bihar's Munger district, police said on Monday.
Chetan Soren, 30, who had come to visit his in-laws at tribal dominated Shampur-Sautari village, got drunk on Sunday evening and began firing shots at random.
One of the bullets hit five-year-old Suresh Tudu, killing him on the spot.
Enraged by the boy's death, the villagers overpowered Soren, pierced him with arrows and bludgeoned him to death, the police said.
Police recovered the a country-made revolver and four cartridges from the spot. A case has been registered against unknown persons in connection with Soren's lynching.
