Duped by Ansals, 600 Wait for Their Dream Home in Jaipur
The Ansal City Jaipur project promised to build 2000 plots on the Highway and the 2000 bookings were made with possession promised within six months of registration.

A 200 acre barren land on the Ajmer-Jaipur highway, used by locals as a playground, is the site for 2000 houses. Although Ansal Buildwell made the bookings between 2004 and 2009 but till date not a single plot has been delivered.

The Ansal City Jaipur project promised to build 2000 plots on the Highway and the 2000 bookings were made with possession promised within six months of registration.

"We thought it was Ansal, it's a big brand. They promised a world class township here. They said we are a public listed company and the plots would be allotted in two years," says Manoj Bansal, a businessman based in Jaipur.

Buyers allege that Ansals held back the land to resell it at a premium. Some buyers bought plots in 2009 at a premium over the booking amount of Rs 1.75 lakh. They, too, are waiting for their dream home.

"I had come to Jaipur from Hindaun for some work. When I heard about this scheme I made the due checks and put my money in it. I thought we'll have a house in Jaipur but with land rates soaring on Ajmer road greed took over the company. They did not mean to give the plots. They only wanted to collect money from people," Anil Gupta, a businessman, says.

Ansals has not contacted most of the buyers despite calls and e-mails. Till now 1400 people have opted out by taking a refund of 10% interest on the money paid.

CNN News18 visited the site office in Ajmer but got no answers. A team was also sent to the Ansal head office in Delhi as well but there, too, no one responded. Instead the correspondent and cameraperson were pushed out.
