Errani-Vinci win US Open women's doubles title
The second-seeded Italians beat Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka 6-4, 6-2 for their second Grand Slam championship.

New York: Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci both got to celebrate this time. Four days after facing off in a US Open singles quarter-final, when Errani didn't even crack a smile after clinching victory, they were dancing on court Sunday over their doubles title.

The second-seeded Italians beat Andrea Hlavackova and Lucie Hradecka 6-4, 6-2 for their second Grand Slam championship — and second in three months after they broke through at the French Open.

"Good thing is we can celebrate together," Errani said. They're commemorating a career year for both. In singles, Errani was the runner-up at Roland Garros, and Vinci made her best Grand Slam run by reaching the quarters here.

Their matchup on Wednesday, won 6-2, 6-4 by Errani, guaranteed that an Italian woman would reach the semi-finals at this tournament for the first time since the Open era began in 1968.

Errani lost to Serena Williams 6-1, 6-2 in the semis on Friday. She and Vinci were the ones dictating play Sunday against the third-seeded Czechs, who won last year's French Open.

"We play an amazing year," Errani said.
