Ex-journalist held for forging MPs letter

HYDERABAD: A former journalist, presently a consultant with Sri City SEZ, T Sunil Reddy was arrested by the Crime Investigation Department (CID) for allegedly forging the signature of MP M A Khan on a letter addressed to the Union home secretary making serious allegations against director-general of police V Dinesh Reddy.Sunil Reddy was arrested at the Shamshabad airport Friday night.He has reportedly named a senior IPS officer, claiming that the forged letter was written at his behest.Police officials, who did not wish to go on record regarding the arrest, said Sunil Reddy allegedly collected documents pertaining to huge tracts of land (about 500 acres) in and around Shamshabad.He is then alleged to have prepared a representation seeking an enquiry which he enclosed in a covering letter.In the letter with the forged signature of the MP, it was mentioned that a representation had been received from the All India Banjara Seva Samiti, Rangareddy District Committee, Shamshabad.‘’Prima facie, some points raised by the samiti are genuine and that wife of a senior IPS officer (V Dinesh Reddy) from Andhra Pradesh purchased huge tracts of land either by self or through benamis as illustrated in the attached representation and the documents provided thereof.I request you to conduct an impartial enquiry,’’ the supposedly forged letter dated April 22, 2011 read.It is learnt that the Ministry of Home Affairs then got in touch with the MP who denied having written such a letter and in fact wrote back on June 22 stating that a CBI enquiry be ordered.Thereafter, the state CID made preliminary enquiries and took up the investigation.No CID official was either available or willing to talk about the arrest.Repeated attempts to reach the investigating B Malla Reddy proved futile.
