The family day celebrations of the Senaithailaivar Sangam was recently marked by a blood donation, eye and a dental camp for the benefit of the visitors. Over 3,000 people from the community participated in the function.
Muthukumar, general secretary of the sangam, said that the objective of organising the function was to bring together the people of the community. “We have been organising the family day function for the past 14 years. The function, in a sense, facilitates quality time spending among family members,” he said.
Muthukumar added that financial support would be provided to underprivileged children from the community to help them pursue secondary and higher education. He added that the sangam also provided help to women in distress.
“Today, we are providing basic amenities worth `50 - 60 lakh to people who are differently-abled,” he said.
