Acting on a tip-off, officials of DRI raided a car on NH 57 and nabbed the kingpin Lal Babu Sah and two accomplices.

Two hundred notes of Rs 1000 totalling Rs two lakh was seized from them, DRI sources said adding the fake notes were being taken from West Bengal to Bihar's East Champaran district. The fake currencies were hidden in the steering of the vehicle they were riding, the sources said.

Three other accomplices of Sah whose gang was active in trade of fake currencies through porous Indo-Nepal border, were caught by the DRI in December last year and counterfiet notes worth Rs 14.75 lakh recovered from them, the sources said.

The arrested kingpin and two aides were produced in the Economic Offence court in Muzaffarpur and sent to 14 day judicial custody.
