HYDERABAD: Film producer C Kalyan, who was arrested on charges of cheating businessmen and threatening them, was on Thursday produced before a court in Tamil Nadu and would be brought to the city on a prisoner transit warrant on Friday. The CID sleuths, who are probing the killing of faction leader Maddelacheruvu Suri, are likely to question him about the whereabouts of Suri’s killer, Bhanu.Investigators believe Kalyan, who used to threaten traders whom he cheated in the name of Suri and Bhanu, is aware of Bhanu’s hideouts. “Bhanu has been evading police since Suri’s killing and we suspect Kalyan and Singanamala Ramesh, might have some information about him,’’ a CID official said. Police suspect Kalyan is providing monetary support to Bhanu through online transfer and other routes.Kalyan, once a small-time film producer, rose suddenly as a big-budget movie producer. Police are also likely to question him about his source of money.Investigators suspect Bhanu, who did land settlements in the name of Suri, might have invested the money in the films produced by Ramesh and Kalyan. CID officials also suspect that Kalyan had plans to flee to some undisclosed location soon after the arrest of Ramesh.
