VISAKHAPATNAM: Owing to troughs and an active monsoon, the entire state registered a normal rainfall.Surprisingly, in the current season (June to August) Anantapur, Chittoor, Kadapa and Krishna districts have received excess rainfall.For the first time since 2005 rains got delayed due to anti-climate conditions.Though there were rains in some districts in the first two months of the season, almost negative normal rainfall was registered.However, the situation has considerably improved in the first two weeks of August.In the third and last week an upper-air cyclonic circulation covering coastal Andhra and a trough from Vidarbha to Rajasthan covering Telangana region is responsible for the rains.According to meteorological department officials, there are ‘RED’ areas in the state.Agency pockets in north coastal Andhra have registered heavy rains in the last 24 hours.Visakhapatnam agency area has registered an average of 8 cm rainfall while Koyyuru, Paderu and Chintapalle registered 10 cm rainfall.FORECAST: Currently, there is a trough over Chhattisgargh extending till southern Tamil Nadu covering the entire coastal Andhra.Besides, an upper-air cyclonic circulation lies over Chhattisgarh and its neighbouring areas.Under the influence of the trough and upper-air cyclonic circulation, rain or thundershowers at many places over north coastal Andhra Pradesh are likely and at a few places in the south coastal pockets in the next 48 hours.Isolated heavy rains may also occur in the north coastal region in the next 48 hours.Rayalaseema and Telangana will also receive showers in the next couple of days.
