Four-hour power shutdown in city

CHENNAI: TNEB-NTPC joint venture Thermal Plant with three Nos 500 MW units are being established at Vallur, North Chennai. In order to take up the line connectivity to the above new project, shutdown of Nellore–Alamathy 400 KV line has to be availed from June 21 to 30. Due to the above work, there will be a shortage of about 300 MW of power to Chennai City and its suburban areas.Hence load shedding has to be carried out in Chennai City and it’s suburb’s for a duration of one hour once in four hours in rotation, if required. All efforts are taken to minimise the duration of interruption. Consumers are requested to bear with the inconvenience caused and to cooperate so as to enable the early commissioning of new mega power station at Vallur near Chennai City.
