Fresh probe ordered into case of misconduct

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sports Minister K B Ganesh Kumar has ordered a reinvestigation into the case of alleged sexual misconduct charged against kabaddi coach J Udayakumar which resulted in his expulsion three years ago.
The Minister's order follows the Express report dated July 11, which had the rebuttal of the case by international kabaddi player Sharmi Ullahannan with whom Udayakumar was allegedly linked. In a written statement to Express Sharmi had said that all the charges against Udayakumar had been fabricated and that the inquiry commission had never taken her statement. The decision to order a reinvestigation was taken on Tuesday after the Minister convened a high level meeting of Sports Council to discuss the issue.
