Mumbai: Ganesh Chaturthi was marked by some magnificent celebrations across the country.
Unison chants of "Ganapati Bappa Morya" resounded the air at the Ganapati pandals across Mumbai.
Lakhs of devotees, some from as far as the US, have gathered to get a glimpse of their favorite God Ganesha.
They say that it is a matter of faith and that the Elephant God grants their wishes.
In one such pandals, serpentine queues lead to a darshan of Lalbaug Cha Raja or the King of Lalbaug as he's fondly called by his devotees. It may take a wait of fifteen hours for a darshan.
The Girgaum Cha Raja stands a good 24-feet tall and is believed to be made of eco-friendly material.
In Swarnaganeshhotsav, the god is full of gold.
The GSB Ganesha in Wadala is the richest, the gold and diamond studded ornaments from the devotees costing well over 10 crores.
For the Korde family, be it the aarti or making yummy modaks, the 10 days that Ganpati resides at their home, are extra-special.
Resident Meenal Korde says, “The most important thing is that the family comes together for decorations.”
As Mumbai brings in Ganesh Chaturthi amidst a lot of fervor and colorful celebrations, the coming ten days will also see lakhs of devotees gather to seek blessings of the much revered Elephant God.
