Government files probe status on dal scam

CUTTACK: The State Government on Tuesday filed its status report on the investigation into the mid-day meal dal scam. The division bench of Chief Justice V Gopalagowda and Justice BN Mohapatra posted the case for hearing to July 29.The State Government also filed its counter to the PIL alleging largescale corruption in supply of ‘arhar’ dal for implementing the MDM scheme.   As per the counter affidavit filed by the State, it has been stated that following the allegation of large-scale corruption, the supply of food materials to schools and anganwadi centres has been  decentralised and are being purchased by a local committee after finalisation of the price on April 1, 2011.  The Vigilance also filed its report stating that five cases had been instituted against more than 20 Government officials.
