BALASORE: The Chief Minister’s Office on Monday sought a report on the minor girl of Bhogarai area in the district undergoing treatment in a hospital in Delhi. The 14-year-old was working as a domestic help in an apartment at Paschim Vihar in Delhi for the last two years. Her mother, Gurubari Mandal of Mankunda village alleged that she had been made to do more work and tortured physically. Her employers, however, claimed that she was suffering from TB. A fellow villager Suresh Behera had employed her in the apartment assuring ` 1,000 a month. Gurubari said she had been paid only ` 10,000 so far, adding that poverty forced her to send her daughter to Delhi.Sources said the girl was admitted to the hospital after she complained of severe pain in the spinal cord. She has been bed-ridden for the last four days.The victim’s mother has demanded legal action against Behera and the employer. She alleged that Behera was putting pressure on the girl not to lodge a police complaint.Meanwhile, several social organisations in Delhi visited the girl in the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital. The public relations officer of the State Government Tapan Das has also met the girl and recorded her statement.
