PUDUCHERRY: The gradation of schools in the UT has been proposed  after notification of Puducherry Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Rules, 2011, said PML Kalyanasundaram, Transport Minister, who also  holds Education portfolio, here on Saturday.Raising a question on the subject during question hour, K Lakshminarayanan (Cong) said that despite the fact that the Right to Education Act came into  being in 2009, it is yet to be notified. The rules have not been framed either, he added. There are around 1100 schools, both  government and private, in the UT. Gradation would help in understanding the standard of the school, the quality of education and the infrastructure.Replying to a question from AMH Nazeem, Rangasamy said  the government was considering an alternative site for construction of a branch hospital of JIPMER at Karaikal. The eight-acre land available would be used for construction of super speciality hospital.
