New Delhi: A security guard employed with the State Bank of India in the national capital stole more than Rs 1 crore 75 lakh from its ATM in the last one year. The incident has been reported from New Rajendra Nagar in the Central District.
Sources told IBN7 that the guard, identified as Nepal Singh, used a secret code to withdraw Rs 15 lakh from the ATM every month. When the bank officials found out about the missing funds, they registered an FIR on January 15.
Delhi Police, acting on the FIR, arrested Nepal Singh and even raided his Gurgaon residence. Cash worth Rs 40 lakh was recovered from his house. The police are now checking his property details.
The accused Nepal Singh is a permanent employee of the SBI. Since a security guard cannot have access to the secret code of the ATMs, the involvement of other bank employees in the crime is not being ruled out.
