Gurgaon mall turns back Big B, Tabu
Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan and Tabu fail to get access into a Gurgaon mall for shooting.

Gurgaon: He might be the Big B of Bollywood, but he failed to get entry into a shopping mall in Gurgaon, which is located on the outskirts of New Delhi.

Bachchan was in the city last week for the shooting of his forthcoming movie Cheeni Kum, but he and co-star Tabu could not proceed with the day’s plans when they were denied entry into the mall. As a result, the stars were left waiting in their cars.

Interestingly, star power failed to move things in this case.

Prabhakar Shrivastava, President, Malibu Town Residents’ Welfare Association (RWA) was quoted in media reports as saying, "the film did not come through the proper channels".

Apparently assured of their entry anywhere for shooting, the film’s crew did not bother to seek permission beforehand for the movie’s shooting in the mall.

It is reported that the filmmakers had contacted Shrivastava a day before they’d to arrive but were told that the notice was too short to comply with and so were requested to postpone the shooting.

The filmmakers have their own story to tell. Producer Sunil Manchanda claims to have taken permission from the builders, Malibu Towne Estate Ltd (MTEL) and didn’t know that they had to take permission from RWA too. Director Balakrishnan feels that there were some ego issues between MTEL and RWA that caused the chaos.

The film's crew finally shot the scenes at another location in Delhi.

Cheeni Kum is a love story, in which the Big B plays a chef and falls in love with Tabu. The title of the movie is explained by the director as, "a love story with less sugar in it!"
