KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Friday dismissed a petition seeking a CBI probe into the alleged corruption in the state owned public sector undertaking Malabar Cements. The petition was dismissed by a division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Manjula Chellurand and Justice C N Ramachandran Nair. The petition was filed by Surendran A K of Sekharipuram in Palakkad district. He alleged that though the vigilance conducted an inquiry into the alleged corruption and filed a report, the State overlooked the fact that the transcations had inter-state ramifications. “This makes a CBI inquiry into the issue essential,” he submitted. He further submitted that the trial would probably not yield any result as the person against whom allegations were raised was holding the office of the Industries Minister. The alleged transactions were made by the company when the UDF was in power during 2001-06.
