New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday dismissed Vikas Yadav’s bail plea in the Nitish Katara murder case. The court passed an order saying that the case must undergo a time bound trial to stop further delay in the final judgment.
The court also ruled out any bail application to be entertained for Yadav who has already been convicted in Jessica Lal murder case.
On an application by Nitish's mother Neelam Katara, the Supreme Court had earlier ordered transfer of the case for trial to Delhi courts. The SC had also said in a statement two-months back that no bail application of Vikas Yadav would be entertained.
Pleading for bail to his client, Yadav’s counsel Dinesh Mathur said that the deposition by Vikas`s sister Bharti was already complete in the trial court and there was no chance of the accused influencing the witness or tempering with the evidence.
Yadav`s counsel Dinesh Mathur contended that his client was entitled to the bail because co-accused and Vikas` cousin Vishal, who faced the same charges as Vikas, has already been granted bail.
However, prosecution counsel Mukta Gupta opposed the plea saying that Vikas had already been convicted and sentenced to four year`s imprisonment for destroying evidence in the case related to murder of ramp model Jessica Lal.
Vikas and Vishal Yadav had are charged for killing Nitish Katar for his alleged friendship with their sister Bharti in Feb 202 at Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
