Heat wave across the country, 5 dead in Odisha
Vidarbha in Maharashtra recorded the highest maximum temperature this summer with a scorching 47 degrees Celsius on Monday.

New Delhi: A scorching heat wave is on across the country with the rising mercury killing 5 people in Odisha. The districts of Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh and Angul are among the worst affected in the state. The mercury, meanwhile, touched 43 degrees in capital Bhubhaneswar on Monday and frequent power cuts and water shortage added to people's woes.

Meanwhile, Vidarbha in Maharashtra on Monday recorded the highest maximum temperature this summer with a scorching 47 degrees Celsius at Chandrapur. Nagpur and Wardha experienced a high of 45 degrees Celsius, while Amravati and Akola saw a high of 44 degrees Celsius.

In Andhra Pradesh, temperatures have been rising steadily over the past 48 hours in its coastal regions. Presently, it is 33 degrees Celsius in Vishakhapatnam.

Meanwhile, Gujarat saw a high of 41 degrees Celsius in Ahmedabad on Monday.
