Heavy to very heavy rainfall with isolated extremely heavy falls is likely over the Northeast and adjoining east India in the next two to three days and decrease in intensity thereafter, the India Meteorological Department’s latest forecast said on Tuesday.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely over Konkan, Goa, central Maharashtra, and coastal Karnataka in the next five days with the possibility of extremely heavy falls over Goa on Tuesday, it said.
According to the IMD, a heavy rainfall spell is likely over many parts of central India, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh over the next five days.
Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Konkan, Goa, central Maharashtra, Marathwada, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, and Karnataka, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Gujarat, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, and Telangana, and isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Rayalaseema in the next five days, said the forecast.
Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely over Konkan, Goa, central Maharashtra, and coastal Karnataka from July 9 to 13, isolated heavy rainfall over Marathwada, coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam on July 9, Gujarat and north interior Karnataka from July 9 to 13, Saurashtra, Kutch, and Telangana on July 9 and 10, as well as Kerala, Mahe, and south interior Karnataka on July 9, 12, and 13, according to the IMD.
Isolated very heavy rainfall is very likely over Gujarat and coastal Karnataka on July 9, while isolated extremely heavy rainfall is also very likely over Goa on Tuesday, the forecast said.
Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, and northeast India, and scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Gangetic West Bengal,
Jharkhand, and Odisha in the next five days, said the IMD.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at some places over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from July 9 to 11, at isolated places over Bihar, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya from July 9 to 13, isolated heavy rainfall over Jharkhand on July 12 and13, Odisha on July 13, and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura on July 9, 10, and 13, it said.
According to the IMD, isolated extremely heavy rainfall is very likely over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from July 9 to 11, Arunachal Pradesh on July 9 and 10, and Assam and Meghalaya on July 10.
Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning is very likely over Uttarakhand and central India, scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall over Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, and isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Rajasthan in the next five days, said the forecast.
Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Madhya Pradesh from July 9 to 13, eastern Uttar Pradesh from July 10 to 13, Uttarakhand from July 10 to 12, Himachal Pradesh and western Uttar Pradesh on July 11 and 12, Jammu, north Haryana, and north Punjab on July 12, eastern Rajasthan on July 9 and 11, Vidarbha on July 9 and 10, western Rajasthan on July 9, and Chhattisgarh from July 11 to 13, it said.
Isolated very heavy rainfall is also likely over eastern Uttar Pradesh from July 10 to 12, the IMD predicted.
