BANGALORE: Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed the state government to prepare electoral rolls for the Wakf Board by July 15 and hold elections and declare the results by September 4.
Further, the Division Bench comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice H G Ramesh directed the state government to direct its committees to tell the Wakf Board not to take any financial and administrative decisions. The HC said Minority Welfare Secretary Zameer Ahmed Pasha would be held responsible if the directions of the court were not followed.Karnataka Wakf Properties Protection Force had filed a writ petition, requesting the court to direct the state government to hold elections to Wakf Board at the earliest. The petitioners had contended that the state government had appointed an administrator to the board on January 16, 2010, for a period of six months and had not held elections to the board since then.
