ICMR team to inspect NIMHANS work on July 8

BNAGALORE: The members of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) will visit the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) on July 8 as the institute has sent a proposal to the Union Ministry of Health to upgrade it with an advanced centre for translational research and innovation.
The primary objective of the visit of the eight members of ICMR is to discuss and review the research work taken up by the institute and offer its suggestions.Speaking to The New Indian Express Dr V M Katoch, Director General, Indian Council of Research Centre (ICMR), said that the team members will visit the institute to inspect, give suggestions and seek more details on the ongoing research and development.

If all goes well as per the proposed plan, the new facility in the institute's campus will provide a platform for rapid and comprehensive translational research on an array of neurological, psychiatric, clinical and mental health problems. These translational research will help in translation of research work into clinically useful end products. Prior to the visit of these eight ICMR members on July 8, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and ICMR Director General Dr V M Katoch have already paid a visit to the institute in month of January and February respectively. They have also reviewed the mental health research work.
