Goddess Parvathi tending infant Ganesh, Yashoda with Lord Krishna, Mother Earth, among numerous other paintings which depict motherhood welcomed art lovers to the new journey of Ikon art gallery, Banjara hills. The gallery reopened on September 29 after it was closed in May due to a fire mishap.Ikon houses the works of solo artist Giridhar Goud.“I wanted to begin on a positive note by choosing motherhood as the theme, as it speaks about love and care,” said Avani Rao, owner and curator of the gallery.Taking a look around the exhibition, one of the visitors, Parvathi says the bright yellow painting showing Yashoda and Krishna together in banana fields appeals to her the best as she feels the work has been able to give life to the theme.“Every work here is unique and wonderful. The paintings have been given 3D effect which makes it very appealing” says Ramya, a visitor and an artist. The artist has used acrylic colours. The paintings have been able to beautifully capture the moods of different time periods in a day-- morning painted in bright hues, evening in sober colours and night with earthy dark colours. The exhibition is open till October 19.
