Information on No. plate rates sought

HYDERABAD: Transport minister Botcha Satyanaryana has asked the APSRTC to speed up the tender process of preparing high-security number plates for all vehicles in the state.Speaking to Express here on Thursday, he said he asked RTC officials to study the prices at which number plates were being supplied to motorists in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, and to submit a detailed report to him.He said he came to know that a number plate cost Rs 340 in Uttar Pradesh and `170 in Bihar.A Bangalore- based company came forward to supply the plates at Rs 270 in Andhra Pradesh, he said and wanted to know the reasons for the varying prices.“Once the tender process is completed, 1.20 crore vehicles in the state will have high-security number plates,” he said, adding that companies with oneyear experience could participate in tenders
