CHENNAI: Isari Ganesh, chancellor of a well-known private university and son of yesteryear Tamil film actor Isari Velan, was arrested on Tuesday by Kilpauk police after charging him under five sections, including criminal intimidation.Police said Sivasubramaniam from Royapettah, a member of Pachaiyappa’s Trust, lodged a complaint on Monday against Ganesh, former president and a present member of the trust, another member Saravanan and another person named Mohan. In his complaint, Sivasubramaniam had claimed that he was threatened by trust member Ganesh, who had questioned him on the day of polls as to how he could be a trustee. Police said that Isari Ganesh had threatened him continuously many times.Further, Ganesh and Saravanan had used harsh and abusive language against the complainant during the trust board meeting on Saturday, police said. Ganesh had instigated Saravanan to assault Sivasubramaniam and the latter assaulted him with an iron chair, police added. The complainant sustained injuries in the head and left hand. Police said one Mohan also attempted to strangulate the complainant and others in the meeting who came to his rescue. Following the complaint, police arrested Ganesh at his house at Injambakkam.
