The Samajwadi Party candidate from Jamshedpur Lok Sabha seat, D G Raja today sought financial help from the public to contest the ensuing parliamentary polls.
Raja, who has already spent over Rs. 26,000 adhering to details furnished to the poll observer (Expenditure), has urged the masses to contribute in form of donations by cheque/demand draft in his savings account, which he had opened on the day of filing papers, i.e. March 26.
He said a separate account with - Bank of India, Sakchi branch, Jamshedpur, Saving A/C no. 450410110013856 - was opened to maintain accountability of his poll expenditure as per the directives of the Election Commission.
Claiming that Rs five lakh was enough for election campaigning for any party candidates, Raja said the maximum limit of Rs 70 lakh as set by the EC was too large an amount for a country like India.
