J&K: Video Shows CRPF Bus Halted, Terrorists Fire Indiscriminately
A minute examination of the video shows a terrorist wearing a black dress firing at the CRPF bus indiscriminately even as another terrorist on his left is probably giving him cover.

Srinagar: Two days after the deadly ambush in Pampore which killed eight CRPF men, CNN-News18 exclusively accessed a video which shows the two terrorists firing indiscriminately at the bus.

What was noticeable in the hazy video is that there was no immediate retaliatory fire from the CRPF men when the two terrorists opened fire, reloaded their rifles, and fired again.

Two other terrorists were reportedly waiting in the car.

This raises doubts whether the CRPF personnel travelling in the bus were carrying their weapons ready to retaliate in case of attacks.

Also there seems to be no escort which otherwise should have been following the CRPF bus.

The Road Opening Party (ROP) which sanitises the road seem to have arrived a bit late giving the terrorists ample time to shower bullets on the bus.

The video clip seems to have been shot on a mobile phone from across a stream while the attack happened.

A minute examination of the video shows a terrorist wearing a black dress firing at the CRPF bus indiscriminately even as another terrorist on his left is probably giving him cover.

The terrorists appeared to have carefully chosen the spot for the ambush as every vehicle has to slow down there because of a sharp bend on the road.

The CRPF bus stopped either because the driver was shot or the tyres were burst.

While two terrorists eventually get killed by the CRPF road opening party, the two others have reportedly fled in a car.

According to Inspector General of CRPF, Nalin Prabhat, the bus, returning after a firing exercise to Srinagar, was ambushed by two terrorists who were coming from the opposite side.

"They got down from a car and fired indiscriminately at the bus. Before they could enter the bus, which had come to halt due to firing, they were killed by the ROP of the CRPF," he had said.

Since Saturday, police and security agencies are looking out for the absconding terrorists. A heightened alert about another possible attack by terrorists anywhere on highway or in Srinagar has also been issued.

This is the second such attack in Kashmir in three weeks on a bus carrying security personnel.
