KOCHI: The cremation of Justice K K Narendran was held at the Ravipuram crematorium on Saturday. Justice Narendran, who headed various commissions, passed away on Friday. According to his wish, no religious rites were performed as part of the cremation.People from different walks of life, including those from sociocultural, political and legal fields, paid their tributes to Justice Narendran, when the body was placed for public viewing at his residence on Seventh Cross Road, Giri Nagar here. The body was taken to the crematorium at 2.30 pm by his son K N Sunil who also lit the pyre.Those who paid tribute to him include noted figures in judiciary, politicians,peoples representatives and leaders of various sociocultural organisations. Union Ministers Vayalar Ravi and K V Thomas, Minister K Babu, KPCC president Ramesh Chennithala, Deputy Leader of Opposition Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, CPI State Secretary C K Chandrappan, JSS state president A N Rajan Babu paid tribute to the departed soul. All the judges of the Kerala High Court, including Chief Justice J Chelameswar, were present to pay their tributes to Justice Narendran. MLAs V D Satheesan, Benny Behanan, Hibi Eden, Jose Thettayil, E P Jayarajan and S Sarma, crtic M K Sanu, Deputy Mayor B Bhadra, CPM district secretary Gopi Kottamurikkal, CITU leader M M Lawrence, former AdvocateGeneral C P Sudhakara Prasad were some of the luminaries who paid their last respects.
