Karunanidhi questions Parithis loyalty

CHENNAI: Barely three days after the DMK formally accepted the resignation of former minister Parithi Illamvazhuthi from his post of deputy general secretary, party chief Karunanidhi -avoiding mentioning names -said disloyal elements were trying to betray the party. Writing for party organ Murasoli, Karunanidhi said certain elements trying to betray the party were concerned only about their well being. Comparing such betrayal tendencies to attempting to pierce the womb of a mother with a sharp weapon, the DMK president said: “When they were penniless, they stood up to take on the challenges faced by the party. Now, they endeavour to protect their wealth by their efforts to betray the party.”On October 27, former deputy Speaker VP Duraisamy was appointed as the party deputy general secretary in the place of Parithi. The ex-minister accused the DMK of lack of inner party democracy.
