KOCHI: Kerala Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) and DP world signed an MoU for jointly operating the 24-hour help centre at Walayar on Friday.KCCI chairman Deepak L Aswani said the facility would help the Vallarpadam terminal to match international standards and this would help improve trade and productivity.Cochin Port Trust chairman Paul Anthony said the new centre is an example of Kerala Chambers and DP World’s initiative to explore the possibilities in trade. He said the help centre would help promote trade.CSEZ Development Commissioner C J Mathew, Malaysian Trade Consul Zainudheen Jalil, president of Cochin Custom House Agents Association A A Abdul Azeez and secretary of Containers Carriers Owners Welfare Association P Ramachandran spoke.The round-the-clock help centre facility would benefit exporters and importers, routing their consignments through Cochin Port, and help sort out the genuine difficulty faced at the checkposts.It would also help in tracking the export/import containers routed through ICTT Vallarpadam.Cochin Port Trust chairman Paul Anthony was the chief guest. DP World CEO K K Krishnadas and CSEZ Development Commissioner C J Mathew were also present at the function.
