THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 24 X 7 call centre, which started functioning at Chief Minister Oommen Chandy’s office in the Secretariat created a record of sorts within a day, with almost 2.25 lakh calls coming in since it started functioning. However, for paucity of lines, only 6,315 calls were registered. Out of it, only 4,220 calls were registered at the call centre and forwarded to the departments concerned for necessary action. Most of the callers were eager to go on at length to present their grievances. The calls included many from abroad, mostly during the night hours here. Interestingly, most of the calls were just congratulatory calls to wish all success to the innovative venture, which was first of its kind in any CM’s office in India. The rush experienced in calls is expected to subside in 2-3 days, according to the key officials at the centre.
