Kerala: Sudhakaran seeks probe into 2004 firing

KANNUR: Congress MP Sudhakaran today sought a reinvestigation into the Koothuparambu police firing in which five DYFI activists were killed in 2004.Sudhakaran told reporters that he would be handing over the letter seeking a reinvestigation to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and KPCC President Ramesh Chennithala tomorrow.He said he was seeking a reinvestigation as he wanted the allegations levelled against him to be cleared.Sudhakaran's arch rival and former Kannur district Congress Committee President P Ramakrishnan had alleged that Sudhakaran had insisted that M V Raghavan, who was then Cooperation minister,attend a government function in 2004 at Koothuparambu despite police warning that there could be trouble on account of protest by the DYFI against the minister.Ramakrishnan resigned from the DCC Presidentship early this month.
