BANGALORE: The lorry owners have withdrawn their strike with immediate effect following a concrete assurance by Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda on their demands at a meeting here on Thursday. “We are meeting the transport minister and the chief secretary once again besides officials from the Finance and Transport Departments on Friday where all issues are expected to be sorted out on the basis of the spirit of Thursday’s discussion,” President of the Federation of Karnataka State Lorry Owners and Agents Association (FKSLOAA) G R Shanmugappa told reporters after the meeting at Krishna, the CM’s home office. Transport Minister R Ashok, who was also present in the meeting, said the chief minister took stock of the situation and had a very detailed talks with the lorry owners. “I had also explained to the chief minister the discussion we had in the earlier meetings with the lorry owners. Taking a comprehensive view, the chief minister has suggested ways and means to end the impasse. He has directed the chief secretary and the officials to finalise the issues on the basis of the discussion we had on Thursday,” Ashok explained. He, however, refused to spell out the decisions arrived at in the meeting and said, “All details will be provided after the meeting on Friday.”
