Lukewarm response to solidarity day

PARADIP:  The Solidarity Day observed by Left parties on Friday to protest the forcible land acquisition for the Posco project fell flat in Jagatsinghpur district. The event generated lukewarm response across the State, including Bhubaneswar, Kujang, Paradip and Ersama. “Our leaders were busy organising the State-level protest, hence the event failed at the block and district level,” said CPI district unit Secretary Sashibhusan Swain.BJD was especially vocal in criticising the Left parties for launching the campaign. Questioning the Left’s popularity among the masses, the party leaders accused CPI of joining hands with anti-Posco activists after winning a seat here at BJD’s mercy.
